Our Basic Principle

YKK AP collaborates with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, business partners, and local communities, to continue being a company that is trusted by the community and loved by society. We strive to improve our corporate value by providing a place for dialog as necessary to be of use in business innovation and product quality improvement.
Our "Multi-Stakeholder Policy" is formulated based on a recognition of the importance of value co-creation between a variety of stakeholders - including employees, clients, end users, and regional communities - in our business operations according to YKK AP's Purpose of "We Build a Better Society Through Architectural Products."

Customers Provide better products and services
  • Verify product value from a consumer perspective
  • Communicate by phone or email to address inquiries and requests
  • Presentations and proposals on products and services at exhibition facilities
  • Provide timely information through social media and websites, etc.
If we anticipate a typhoon, a blizzard, or other natural disaster,
YKK AP transmits information on preparing for disasters via its official social media accounts and website, etc.
Timely transmission of information enables us to contribute to safe and worry-free daily living.
Supplier Subcontractors Promotion of social responsibility in our supply chain
  • Provide activity summaries, explain YKK AP's performance and policies
  • Explain YKK AP's research and development, manufacturing, supply and purchasing policies
Each year, YKK AP hosts a "Procurement Policy Explanation Meeting" and explains the company's performance and policies to suppliers. Since FY2020, we also utilize online meetings while providing more suppliers with opportunities for explanations.

Together with MADO (Window) Shops that handle window remodeling, YKK AP exchanges views and discusses issues regarding products and installation methods, as well as measures for improvement. The views expressed in these discussions will be used to improve products.
Local communities Promote social responsibility as a corporate citizen

  • Participate/co-sponsor cleanup activities and events in the community
  • Provide next-generation educational support
As part of the company's support for environmental education, since FY2010, the Kyusyu Plant has been breeding endangered Japanese Medaka fish in a pond on the premises. These fish are then donated to elementary schools in the city for use as teaching materials in the "Oshiete! Medaka-Sensei Project."

Roundtable meetings and informal gatherings are held in various locations as an opportunity for dialog between management and employees. In FY2022, 290 people participated in 29 events in Japan and abroad. The employee opinions received through these dialogues are reflected in a variety of measures.
