Global Business Development
What is required from the architectural products manufactured by YKK AP varies depending on the climate, geography, and culture of each country and region. To meet these needs, we are committed to developing and manufacturing products in each country and region, while conducting business operations that are rooted in local communities. The technologies developed at each of our companies are consolidated at our R&D Center in Japan and then deployed horizontally across countries and regions, continuing to create values worldwide, backed by technology.
Global business operations in 12 countries and regions, focusing on Japan, North America, China, and greater Asia.
Japan
In Japan, we conduct the "Residential Business" to provide windows, doors, and interior products for single-family homes, the "Exterior Business" to offer full coordination between buildings and exteriors, the "Commercial Business" to provide curtain walls, etc. for non-wooden, multi-family residences and office buildings, and the Aluminum Profile Business to provide aluminum profile materials for supporting various industrial sectors. In addition, we launched the Global Curtain Wall Business Division in April 2023 to strengthen our CW business both in Japan and overseas.
We are also working to accumulate and develop knowledge, information, and technology as a global headquarters for product development, technical research, and manufacturing not only in Japan but around the world.
<Mid-term Growth Strategy & Vision>
In order to realize our 6th Mid-term Business Policy of "Providing Social Values through Products and Realizing Manufacturing Reform", we are strengthening the promotion of windows with higher thermal insulation performance, higher added valueand and proposals of the higher building-renovation sector. Demand for remodeling and renovations is expected to grow due to governmental subsidy programs, and we are also working on increasing our production capacities by enhancing production facilities for remodeling and glass products. We are also taking on the challenge of entering new businesses and domains to achieve sustainable growth amid a downward trend in construction of new houses.
Additionally, with the aim to achieve carbon neutrality, we have launched the "Carbon Neutral Project" and formulated a technical roadmap for that. These technologies will be rolled out not only in Japan but also throughout our YKK AP Group companies worldwide.
North America
We design, manufacture, and sell products centered on commercial aluminum building products for the commercial business and residential vinyl windows for the residential business. We offer products that meet regional needs such as thermal insulation products that lead environmental policy, safety products that address the increasing risk of hurricanes and more, and unit curtain walls that address labor shortages.
<Mid-term Growth Strategy & Vision>
YKK AP AMERICA INC. has set "Establishing AP America Group as Dominant North American Architectural Products Company" as the business policy in the 6th Mid-term Management Plan. As a priority measure for the commercial business, we will work to expand our project center business by taking advantage of our regional service model and design capabilities. In particular, we will strengthen our strategy in the West Coast area, further cultivate our presence in the Mid-South market, and strengthen and expand sales of thermal insulation products.
ERIE ARCHITECTURAL PRODUCTS INC. will work to expand its customer base through collaboration with YKK AP AMERICA INC.. In the residential business, we will strengthen our earnings structure and expand business scale by product strategy and enhanced manufacturing base. In December 2023, we began production of vinyl windows at our new plant. We will utilize new products produced in our state-of-the-art facilities, equipped with highly efficient integrated production systems, to strengthen sales in untapped areas within six southern states in the U.S.A.
At the same time, we will make model changes and expand the lineup of our core products.
In addition, as a foundational business strategy to support sales strategies in both businesses, we will further accelerate business deployment and improve governance by enhancing our technological capabilities and administrative functions.
China
Our business in China is operated by YKK AP CO., LTD., which designs, manufactures, and sells aluminum and thermal insulated aluminum profile products for the Chinese domestic market, YKK AP (SUZHOU) CO., LTD., which manufactures components, curtain walls, and window products as a global manufacturing and supply base, DALIAN YKK AP CO., LTD., a manufacturing base for vinyl profiles for the Japanese market, and YKK AP (CHINA) INVESTMENT CO., LTD., which oversees the aforementioned companies. The YKK AP brand is also highly regarded in China, having been the first foreign company to win the "Architectural Windows and CW Industry Brand List, Top 10 Windows Brand List" for nine consecutive years.
<Mid-term Growth Strategy & Vision>
The business policies of the 6th Mid-term Management Plan are to "expand business by accelerating growth of existing businesses and developing new businesses" and "rebuilding the manufacturing and supply system to support sustainable growth." As priority measures, we are working to develop new customers in the mid-range market in the domestic business and to expand sales channels in the renovation business. Going forward, we plan to further expand sales by strengthening proposals for wide-opening products and new anodized aluminum colors for the new housing market, and by introducing ventilation products and other products specifically aimed at the renovation market.
Meanwhile, we will strengthen our business base by implementing organizational reforms aimed at adapting to the rapidly changing market environment. In the export business, we will work to strengthen the cost competitiveness of our components, curtain walls, window products, and vinyl profiles, and to build a production system that can respond to changes in quantity.
Asia
Having manufacturing bases in Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, and India, which are rapidly growing markets, we are developing products and business models tailored to each country and region.
For example, YKK AP TAIWAN CO., LTD. is recognized as a company that offers top brands, such as window frames with high watertight performance suited to the area's frequent typhoons. Also focuses on training construction partners to further improve construction quality.
PT YKK AP INDONESIA serves as a research and manufacturing base in Asia, offering design, manufacturing, and sales of aluminum materials and aluminum sliding doors, primarily targeting the domestic Indonesian and broader Asian markets.
In India, Bhoruka Extrusions Private Limited is engaged in the extrusion and sales businesses of aluminum materials, which are its primary domains, as well as in the development of aluminum window products, mainly targeting luxury multiple-dwelling residences.
<Mid-term Growth Strategy & Vision>
YKK AP TAIWAN CO., LTD., as the top brand in Taiwan, we will pursue structural reforms to achieve further growth, strengthen proposals for high value-added products, and increase sales. In addition, in order to exploit the mid-range market, we will develop new products, further streamline our production lines, and reduce costs by strengthening our production system.
PT YKK AP INDONESIA sell profiles and to increase sales volume in the midrange market, which is growing rapidly, in addition to the high-end market. In addition to expanding the variants of MADELA, a sash for commercial buildings aimed at the upper-mid range market, which went on sale in 2021, we will introduce new products such as high-quality factory-manufactured entrance doors and aluminum carports with superior corrosion resistance, durability, and design. We will increase sales volume for single-family houses built for sale in the upper-mid range market, and also provide added value.
In India, Bhoruka Extrusions Private Limited, by providing high-quality, high-value-added products, we also hope to use YKK AP brand windows to improve living environments. In the profiles business, we are strengthening our cost competitiveness by making capital investments. We are also working to expand the variations of our core window product, IWIN-S, and to strengthen our ability to make proposals to the mid-range volume market.
